Procedure for Making Yogurt at Home

Ingredients:

  1. a) Fresh milk
    b) Flavor (Strawberry or Vanilla essence)
    c) Sugar
    d) Food coloring (optional)
    e) Ready-made yogurt

Instructions:

1. Boil the milk while stirring to prevent cream formation and to avoid the milk sticking to the surface of the sufuria (cooking pot).

2. Once it boils, add sugar to taste and stir well.

3. Remove the milk from heat and let it cool to 45°C, stirring occasionally.

4. Add the ready-made yogurt, followed by the flavor (Strawberry or Vanilla essence), and food coloring (e.g., pink for strawberry flavor), if desired.

5. Mix thoroughly, then strain the mixture using a sieve.

6. Pour the yogurt mixture into a container (e.g., kibuyu or mtungi) and cover it with a heavy cloth. Allow it to incubate for 8 hours.

7. After incubation, place the container in cold water or a refrigerator until the yogurt has completely cooled.

Serve as desired.
